Frequently asked questions

If you’re coming to your first show at Northern Light

If you are new to Northern Light we ask that you email us ( or fill out the form on our CONTACT US page, and let us know how many are in your party– but if you don’t get around to it please don’t let that stop you.  You will be welcome regardless. When you come please introduce yourself to Kevin or Barbara, who host the events.

Craig Bickhardt

Most of our events begin at 3:00 pm on Sundays with a pot-luck meal. Music  starts at 4:00.  We usually have two sets with a 15 minute break.  Music  ends around 6:00 pm.

Where are you located?

9 Roseberry Road, Washington, NJ 07882. We’re about one mile off Rt. 57 near the intersection of Rt. 31 and Rt. 57

What do you charge?

We have a suggested donation of $20 per person.  All goes to the performer.  We do not have advance reservations or sell tickets.  Cash donations are made at the time of the concert.

How is the parking?

We have lots of safe, off-street parking.  There is plenty of room.

Are concerts indoors or outdoors?

We always do outdoor shows if the weather permits.   We have plenty of room with lots of shade.  If weather does not permit (rain) we bring it indoors.  We have comfortable room for about 50 people with good indoor seating. We have clean comfortable indoor restroom facilities.

Should we bring lawn chairs ?

If the concert is outdoors we do provide quite a few chairs and tables; however, we encourage you to bring your own comfortable lawn chairs if you have them.  If you don’t, there will certainly be a seat for you.  If we are indoors, we have chairs already set up and don’t have room for more chairs.

How does the pot-luck meal work?

We encourage you to join us for the pot-luck, but you don’t have to. People usually bring their own favorite picnic dish, snack, or dessert to share with everyone.  We always get a fantastic spread! Please bring whatever is needed to serve your creation. We don’t have electricity available at the tables for the pot-luck so you won’t have a way to plug in to keep your dish warm.

How about drinks?

We provide bottled water and ice to keep drinks cool.  Bring your own drinks if you want more than water. Alcohol is permitted.  We have cups for your wine, beer, or soft drinks.  We also have wine openers.

Can we bring our dog?

We love dogs–have our own little pup (Maya) in fact.  But we don’t encourage people to bring their dogs to our concerts.  It is just too chaotic.  If it is really important to you, get in touch with us and we’ll talk about it.

The people who attend our house concerts are a warm and friendly group– they always welcome music lovers who are new to Northern Light.  You will get a chance to meet and talk to the performers and buy a CD or two if you want to bring the music home with you.

If you don’t know anyone when you arrive, by the end of the show you will probably have some new friends.
